KFC Doesn't Just Offend PETA Anymore

Wow, these kids really are a bunch of idiots!
I can see how this might be funny for a few seconds like "hey look it's Martin Luther King Day and I'm drinking a 40 with my KFC" but to turn it into a big event is sheer idiocracy.
At certain times and in certain contexts it's ok to joke about an ethnicitys exaggerated stereotypes. Loads of non-offensive jokes can be made about things like: Jews are cheap, Asians can't drive, Puerto Ricans wear too much cologne, black people like fried chicken and white people have no rhythm and are dorks who wear khakis (I'm white but a man of leisure would never be caught dead in khakis).

that'd disgusting. you may have stereotypes about black people, which is wrong in and of itself, but to reduce all black people to a caricature, in order to 'celebrate' one of the greatest americans is plain wrong. and i'm not even that p.c., believe me.
We should celebrate every April 4th.
Looks pretty fun, actually. It's a cultural exchange, sort of. Not very respectful, but it doesn't seem that the parts of black culture being mocked are very respectable. Is it really so bad they made fun of gangs? Or is it that they dressed up as gang members, not Jesse Jackson or Oprah or the NBA? If there was a holiday that celebrated white identity, black people would dress up in sweater vests, drink strawberry daquiris and joke about how absolutely delightful the latest exhibit at the museum is. Humor is part of like, and cultural humor is no different.

I'm a student at Tarleton, and I just want to throw out a couple of things that the AP is not really talking about. It wasn't a racist party. There were black people there, they just weren't in those specific pictures. The other day in one of my classes we had a discussion about the whole thing, and the black people in my class didn't seem so much offended by the party itself as they were offended by the fact that outsiders see this and assume it's some racist get together in some small Texas town.
